TEN: Starting in 2013, each Friday, Innocent Words started shining the spotlight directly on up and coming artists/bands with 10 questions we like to call IW10.

Members and Instruments:
Angela Josephine – guitar, piano, hammered dulcimer, mandolin, mountain dulcimer, trumpet (once upon a time) and whatever happens to be laying around.

Short Bio/Hometown:
I grew up in a small town on the shore of Lake Superior in Upper Michigan and lived on a dead-end street we called Diaper Alley. Hence my label, Diaper Alley Brat Music. I was a pretty imaginative kid and would record stories with different voices on my Dad’s reel-to-reel and spent hours sketching fashions. I was curious about so many things and of course I wanted to be everything. Including an astronaut. The closest I got was winning a science scholarship competition in 11th grade which landed me in Newsweek magazine and set me on a course for engineering. I ultimately couldn’t shake the siren song of my creative nature though. In the years since, I’ve released music, published writing and currently have art in a gallery. My career has spanned family, children, life and death and while I’ve learned a lot, I am still discovering new things daily. ‘Daylight,’ my new release, is a folk-rock opera that tells of a woman’s journey through dark times and the discovery of soul in the midst of them. Recorded in Detroit with the amazing Chris Bathgate producing, I feel that this is some of my truest, most important work to date.

When you are on tour and you need to get away from everything and everyone what do you do?
